Ok, I downloaded the latest package and I unzipped the OFU utility to c:\firmware.updater and the BIOS package to c:\bios41 and ran the command:

flashupdt.exe -u \bios41\flashupdt.cfg

And I get the same error as before.  I must be doing something wrong.

I still have access to the drive contents, as they are undamaged. But I cannot boot without the correct settings in the RAID Controller.

Does anyone know if the Intel software has a log or record of the array specifications in a file on the server's hard drive ? In an event log somewhere ?

The OFU utility needs driver installation. Have you completed that by running install.cmd under Drivers\Win folder, choose x86 or x64 (depending on the operating system)?

Questions about Intel Server Board S1200KPR

Hi

I have some questions about the Intel Server Board S1200KPR and i hope somebody can help me.

I build a new Homeserver with the following components

- Intel E3-1265Lv2

- Intel S1200KPR

- OS: Windows Hyper-V 2012 Core

I would like to create RAID Arrays for my data. One RAID1 Array and One RAID5 Array.

1. In the Download section for this board is a donwload called "Intel RAID Web Console 2". This is the same Software which is use with Intel RAID Controllers. Can i use this Software to connect  remotely to the OnBoard RAID Controller or is it only for use with Intel RAID Controller in PCIe Slots?

2. Can i use a Intel RAID Controller (for example RT3WB080) designed for Intel Xeon E5 Prosessors with this board? I cannot find any Informations if this combinations is compatible.

3. Anyone use this board with a RAID Controller? Which one?

Kind regards

How to reset "Physical Scrty" on S2600GZ ?

Hello Everybody,

I have several servers on platform R2224GZ4GCSAS.

After power on the BMC sensor value "Physical Scrty" is 0x0000 and it's Ok. But after 30-60 minutes it switches to 0x0010. It cause warning in ESXi "System unplugged". Does anybody know how to reset this value to 0x0000 and why it switches to 0x0010 ?

NOTE: if I unplug all LAN cables it resets to 0x0000. It's funny but I can't use server without LAN connection. :-)

Thanks,

Sergey

Have the same issue? Flashed it to the newest Version; and fans will run at intermediate speed for about 10 hours, get message of temperature differential and fans set to high speed.  RWC2 shows temps between 17 and 20 degrees C.  Have 8 drives installed and the blanks are in the other cages.  Seems the only way to get it quiet is complete shutdown, and then it will run at an acceptable noise level for 10 to 12 hours.

Installed a second power supply, and still had the same issue.  It is only speculation on my part, but the town I live in had high line voltage going into houses (128 Volts) according to the report from the two different UPSs' in the server closet.  There would be an event logged that the UPS was compensating for high line voltage.  The whole town was shut down one day for electrical work, and when we came back up the line voltage was down to 120 - 121.  That has been 10 days and since then the JBOD has only gone crazy once, and the UPS logs indicated the were compensating for line noise.  This happened at almost the same time that the fans went nuts.  You may want to look for events in the UPS logs that match up with the RWC2 event logs.

Yes, I installed the driver and rebooted.   I even uninstalled it and tried again.  Both times it says it successfully installed, but the error still occurs.

Unable to boot to IDA v5 on S2600CP

I've been pulling out my hair trying to solve this, a new S2600CP Board, dual Xeon E5-2630s, is unable to boot to the IDA v5. I've tried several different types of media, including USB boot, and several copies of the disc, however I always receive a "Unable to access boot device" error.

So far I've replaced RAM (Currently using 16GB of Crucial workstation RAM), both processors (tried with a single processor as well), multiple boards (fully up-to-date firmware), every SATA configuration, and several different methods of booting to the IDA.

I'm at complete loss here.

Apply latest BIOS/Firmware if you haven't yet. If you already have, apply FRU/SDR with LAN connected.

I've tried all of this exactly as you offer.

Connected 1 and 2 LAN cables, applied full last firmware update BMC, BIOS, FRU/SDR. Right after update the sensor's value was 0x0000. But after 30-60 minutes of uptime it switched to 0x0010. If I disconnect LAN cables it switches back to 0x0000 with the same delay ~30-60 minutes.

Did you check the SEL for errors?

Yes, I checked SEL logs. There no helpful info except "Physical Scrty" warning when value changes to 0x0010:

20609/02/2013 06:57:02Physical ScrtyPhysical Security (Chassis Intrusion)reports LAN Leash has been lost - Asserted

Unfortunately I can't find the alert when value changes back to 0x0000. :-(

So it is LAN connection lost. When the connection is restored it should read like "LAN Leash has been lost - Desserted"

You're only using LAN port 1&2 right? Can you test it by disconnecting the LAN cable, monitor the status of System Status LED, and restore the connection? Test it on each LAN port, and check if the SEL reflect the events correctly.

It sounds right but behavior of servers is different. Server didn't lost connection to LAN because it still work like a charm. Even more: yesterday I sent you the last SEL record no. 206 about lost LAN connection (in fact LAN was connected to all 4 LAN ports). Then I disconnected all 4 LAN cables and after several hours "Physical Scrty" returned to 0x0000 value. Below you can see log messages about it. NOTE: there no Deassert messages.

It looks like BMC reset but nobody touched the server and it still unconnected from LAN and ESXi still work on it.

I have the same issue on all my S2600GZ motherboards (5 or 6 at all). It might be caused by LAN switches (HP 5800) but there no errors or disconnect messages on switches also.

FALSASMP Midplane - Couple Questions

$

Hello,

I apologize if any information is incorrect or if I sound like an idiot beforehand. Anyway, I have a FALSASMP midplane sitting inside of an Intel SR2500 2u case which is paired with an Intel S5000XAL motherboard. This machine has been built from scratch and is running perfectly, however, I am unable to set up a HW (Hardware) RAID using my new FALSASMP Active Midplane.

When I first purchased the midplane, I was under the assumption and the sway of an Intel tech that I would not require the AXXMINIDIMM or the AXXRAK18E (Raid Activation Key) in order to build a RAID 10 array. I did not purchase these so I am currently running the FALSASMP without a RAK or MINIDIMM and it's working fine as a pass-through device (IT mode if I am correct). However, I want it to run in IR mode, and I can't seem to figure out why I can't get it into this mode. My questions are listed below, I did a ton of research online about this but I was unable to find much. Many thanks in advance for any assistance provided.

1.) The firmware on the FALSASMP is the 1.11 - IT, I found what I believe is a firmware update at the link below. I did download and make an attempt to flash the firmware, but when using the EFI shell to run the script I get an error stating "No LSI adapters found! Limited Command Set Available! SASFlash Version is: 1.20.00.00." Is there something I am missing here? Do I need to update the firmware to the 1.20 version on the midplane?

Firmware downloaded:

Download Center

2.) Do I require the AXXRAK18E and the AXXMINIDIMM?

Extra Notes:

- No this is NOT the FALSASMP2 midplane

- No warranty available

- I want use this box for an ESXi setup, so a SW (Software) RAID is not an option. (Unless someone knows a way around this, please let me know).

- I am not sure on the type of back-plane being used (what model) but if it's required, I can find it. I do know it's SATA and I have 4 1TB sata drives installed.

- Yes I understand these parts are old, but what was originally going to be a developer's play house turned into a more serious build (Won't be production but will house several very useful business tools).

ARK | Intel® RAID Activation Key AXXRAK18E

ARK | 128MB Mini DIMM Registered DDR2 for RAID Cache AXXMINIDIMM

Once again, any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!!

The board uses Intel® Rapid Storage Technology, so RAID Web Console won't connect to it. The driver at Download Center does include an Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology application, though.

I don't see any list of tested hardware posted on the support site, though.

***UPDATE***

I was capable of finally updating the FALSASMP midplane by performing updates on the BIOS via bootable media into FreeDOS. Once the BIOS updates completed, I downloaded brand new firmware for the midplane (Version 1.33) and it still is in IT mode. So my conclusion may be that I have to purchase a RAK (Raid Activation Key) and an AXXMINIDIMM? If anyone knows, that would be great. I guess as of now I am going to try to flash version 1.20 on the midplane and perform tests from there.
