Re: Broadwell CPU (E5 2650) with two memory controllers

Hello Jeremiah ,

As you mentioned Xeon processor optimizes memory accesses by creating interleave sets across the memory controllers and/or memory channels. I have disabled only the interleaving between channels. So, can I disable all types of interleaving (across both memory controllers and channels)? If yes, which is the process (steps) for doing this?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

diama13

Hi Griffcomm and SaarBlitz,

After reviewing your question with the warranty team the Single Processor System Extended Warranty covers the system and its components included according to the details of the invoice or ARK.intel.com information.

The Intel® Server Component Extended Warranty adds 2 years to the standard warranty of 3 years.

Griffcomm, if you want to replace any faulty accessory on your system, please contact us through our support service via email, phone or chat and provide us with the invoice of the extended warranty.

More details at:
Intel® Server Component Extended Warranty

I apologize for the misunderstanding.

Regards,
Mike C

Frank,

Great to hear that your ram memories seem to be working properly. Did you try the BIOS downgrade that you mentioned?

S2600GZ + nVidia Quadro M2000

Hello.

We use S2600GZ server board with latest BIOS update (R02.06.0006), 2 x Xeon(R) CPU E5-2630L, 28G RAM, PBA G15038-350 two cards and nVidia Quadro M2000.

With BIOS version 01.02.0006 this configuration works fine. But after BIOS update to 02.06.0006 - system not starting. System show only first screen with BIOS information in cycle (without Intel logo).

When we remove nVidia - system works fine. We have change memory mapping in BIOS (BIOS error "Major - 146 - PCI out of resource" on S2600GZ ) with different values but this don't solved our problem.

Hello John,

Apparently it is expected for the fans to go full speed when the temperature levels are unreadable.  Please check this link https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000021781/server-products/server-boards.html  it indicates that the problem could be associated with the use of a non validated memory module.  On the other hand, there is another link within the same article where it says “Review how to troubleshoot a loud fan scenario” which could be of help but still there is a high chance that using a validated memory module will help.

Re: How to clear a TPM2 so I can provision it again?

Hello Henry,

Thank you for your help but unfortunately clearing the bios doesn't clear the tpm. Neither the tpm clear option or reseting everything.

According to the tpm provisioning documentation, "ResetPlatformAuth.nsh" is the correct way to clear them, which doesn't work.

Thank you,

Manolis

connect SSD P4600 2TB via U.2 on backplane

Hi Intel Community,

i hope you can help me. I want to connect a P4600 U.2 SSD (2TB) on my Sata/SAS/Nvme Backplane.

But it does not work:

Mainboard:          Intel® Server Board S2600WF0

Backplane:          F2U8X25S3PHS

Raidcontroller:    BC MegaRAID 9361-8i PCIe x8

+ the integrated onboard Raid controller

When i connect the P4600 it flashes 1 sec. then the led is off for 20 seconds and then it is constantly back on again.

The Raid Controller does not detect the drive. Same for the onboard controler.

I have installed all the Firmwareupdates for the board and the controller. It does not appear in the raidmanager

The P4600 i have is not the model with the PCIe connector. It is the 2,5" model with an sas shaped connector.

thanks

For future reference if anyone is looking, yes the card is compatible however you will not be able to see the card's BIOS when the computer starts up.

I was able to flash and update the card to IT mode by booting to the motherboard bios, choose internal EFI Shell and then mount and load the IT file to update the card.

Hi FenixVT,

Thank you for using Intel® Community Support.

The latest BIOS of Intel® Server Board S2600GZ is not recognizing properly the nVidia* Quadro M2000 graphics card.

Fenix, I understand the previous BIOS version 01.02.0006 recognized properly the graphics card.

As a workaround please, clear CMOS, unplug the power cable, remove the battery and push the power button 3 to 5 times.

Reseat the battery, plug the USB drive with the latest BIOS version 02.06.0006. After the update, get into the BIOS, reset it pressing F9 then, press F10.

Get into the BIOS again, 1) disable NIC controllers (Main screen>Advanced>PCI Configuration>NIC Configuration) 2) Disable Dual Monitor Video.

Save changes, turn the system off and place the external graphics card. Please tell me if the system can post or boot.

Regards,
Miguel C

Hello DRKMittelhessen,

Regarding your problem with the SSD 2.5 P4600 not been recognized.
Thank you for a detailed information on the board name and the backplane used.
Please download the Technical Product Specification for the S2600WF0.
First, let me clarify that the Intel ESRT2 onboard RAID option does not support PCIe devices, this can be found in Section 7.3.1 Embedded RAID Support.

Second could you please describe to me the cable configuration connected from the backplane to the mother, if you could send me some pictures with also help.

You can find information on connection and setup on the TPS for S2600WF0.

If there is anything else we can help please feel free to ask.

Best regards,

Henry A.

Hello Manolis,

I hope you are doing well!  If is not working then it has to be related to security set to the file or BIOS protection.  Only option will be to contact Supermicro for support.

I hope this information helps

If there is anything else we can help please feel free to ask.

Hi Miguel,

Thank you for answer!

We using integrated Ethernet port and can disable it only temporary. Also we have Dual Port Intel® 82599EB 10GbE I/O Module AXX10GBNIAIOM with 10G link.

Where we can disable Dual Monitor Video?

Re: Broadwell CPU (E5 2650) with two memory controllers

Hello Jeremiah

We use an FPGA  board that accesses data on the host’s DRAM over PCIe.  In our case the latency for accessing the host memory is the most critical parameter. Although we have 128GB memory, at boot time we restrict the memory used by the OS to some GigaBytes. So, the PCIe transactions are performed to the remaining GigaBytes. We believe that all kind of interleaving must be disabled in order to achieve our target.
